How the maximum is estimated
A provider may charge an early-termination fee only for a fixed-term contract and may not add a separate disconnection fee. Your contract states the month-by-month charge.
The EETT formula depends on when you cancel and any remaining device, equipment or connection subsidy.
After the second month, the cap is one quarter of the monthly fees left until the scheduled end plus three quarters of the unamortised subsidy balance.
For the first two months, the cap uses two monthly fees, the pro-rated fee up to cancellation and the subsidy amount attributable to the remaining period after excluding the final two months. The tool asks for the pro-rated charge and assumes even subsidy amortisation.
No early-termination fee applies to indefinite contracts, prepaid service (with specified exceptions), certain disadvantageous contract changes or minimum-speed shortfalls. Check your contract and EETT guidance before acting.

Frequently asked questions
Is there always a cancellation fee?
No. Early-termination fees can apply to fixed-term contracts. A separate disconnection fee is not allowed, and exceptions apply.
Is this the amount my provider will bill?
No. It estimates the regulatory maximum from your inputs. Compare it with the charge table in your contract.
What subsidy amount should I enter?
Use the unamortised equipment, device or connection subsidy shown for the cancellation date. Provider schedules can vary.
