Work out the 2027 circulation tax for a car or motorcycle from its registration date, engine size or CO₂ emissions, and see the fines if you pay late.
The 2027 circulation tax is paid from 1 November to 31 December 2026. The amount depends on the date of first registration: older cars pay by engine size, newer ones by CO₂ emissions.
Cars first registered up to 31/10/2010 and all motorcycles pay on the engine-size scale, with different amounts for registration up to 2000, 2001–2005 and from 2006.
From 1/11/2010 to 31/12/2020 the NEDC CO₂ scale applies, and from 1/1/2021 the WLTP scale. Every gram is charged at the rate of the band the car falls into.
The model search suggests typical engine size and CO₂ from the Ministry of Transport's 2024–2025 registrations. The exact figures are on the registration certificate.
A car first registered in 2023 with 130 g/km WLTP: 130 × €0.64 = €83.20 a year. Paid in January, €104.
A 1,400 cc car registered in 2008: €255.
By 31 December 2026. In January 25% is added, in February 50%, and after that a fine equal to the tax (at least €30). The Ministry may extend the deadline.
In field V.7 of the registration certificate. If you cannot find it, the model search shows typical values from registrations, but the exact amount comes from the certificate.
No. Electric and hydrogen vehicles pay nothing.
You can declare it immobilised in myCAR before the deadline. See the vehicle immobilisation guide.
