From 1 July 2027 proof of a bank rent payment becomes a condition for housing support. See what you lose and what is still missing.
decision Α.1187/2026 moved the start of the requirement into 2027.
A tenant must be able to prove a bank payment to keep the refund and other housing support. The refund reaches €800 a year, plus €50 per child.
Three things must be in place: a bank payment every month, a declared lease and an registered on .
For the landlord, what cash costs is reported in the press but does not follow from the decision text, so it is flagged as unconfirmed.
A tenant paying €500 with two children, paying cash and with a declared lease: up to €900 a year at risk (€800 + 2 × €50), and the bank payment is the only missing step.
A receipt does not replace the bank movement. Housing support looks at the account statement.
