ELGA (Greek Agricultural Insurance Organisation)
In short
The state body that insures farmers and pays compensation for damage from natural events.
ELGA insures crop production and pays compensation for damage from natural risks. It also insures livestock against damage from natural risks, illness and disease.
Example: a grower who loses part of a harvest to hail or frost reports the damage to ELGA so it can be assessed and compensated. ELGA calculates the insurance contribution.
