KENAK (building energy performance regulation)
In short
The rules that set how much energy a building may use and how that is measured.
KENAK sets the minimum energy performance requirements for buildings, for example insulation and heating systems. The energy certificate is issued on the basis of it.
KENAK divides Greece into four climate zones, from the warmest (A) to the coldest (D). Example: Heraklion is in zone A, Attica in B, Thessaloniki in C and Kozani in D.
If a property is more than 500 metres above sea level, it moves to the next colder zone. The zone affects how much heating or cooling a home needs.
