Electricity tariffs differ in the rate per kWh, the standing charge, the adjustment clause and discounts. A comparison only means something on your own consumption.
Enter your annual consumption in kWh and, for each offer, the rate per kWh and the monthly standing charge. The tool works out the annual cost, the difference and the consumption at which the two offers are level.
If the rate per kWh is the same, only the standing charge separates them. For a variable tariff, use the average rate of the last period and check the clause.
3,000 kWh at €0.20 with a €5 standing charge is €660; at €0.18 with €8 it is €636. The break-even is 1,800 kWh.
