A prescription is valid for 30 days and each repeat has its own window. See the dates for the whole course.
The rules come from Law 5161/2024 and replace the old “5-day” and “12-day” rules still circulating.
The first fill happens within 30 days of issue. One partial fill adds 10 days, once.
Each repeat can be filled from 10 days before to 30 days after the monthly anniversary of issue. A three-month course therefore gives three separate windows.
The pharmacy sees fills in the system; if the window has passed, a new prescription is needed from the doctor.
A three-month prescription issued on 1 Oct 2026: first fill by 31 Oct 2026, second from 22 Oct to 1 Dec, third from 21 Nov to 31 Dec. With a partial fill the first extends to 10 Nov.
Only if the doctor wrote it that way. Repeats are filled in their own window.
You take part of the quantity and the prescription stays open for 10 more days, once.
The rules apply to electronic prescriptions; special categories (narcotics, hospital medicines) have their own terms.
