Wage, contributions, housing and permits: what one person really costs for the season.
The wage is only the start. Housing, travel and permits often cost as much as contributions, and anyone who leaves early is paid for twice.
The tool calculates the total cost, the monthly cost and the cost per who stays to the end.
Employer contributions are applied to the gross wage at the standard 21.79% rate. Housing is added only when the employer carries it.
The cost per retained is divided by the retention rate. If 10% leave, each hire's cost is spread over the 0.9 people who stayed.
It is the standard employer rate used in the Ministry of Labour's example. The applicable rate depends on the coverage package and the contract.
