Food additives are declared with an E code. Their function (colour, preservative, sweetener) and authorisation are set in Regulation 1333/2008 and the Commission database.
The tool holds a short list of common codes with name, function and status. E171 is no longer authorised as a food additive in the ; other codes are authorised with conditions per food category.
No health judgements are given. For allergies or sensitivities ask a doctor or EFET, and for authorised uses see the database.
E330: citric acid, acidity regulator, authorised.
The tool does not answer health questions; it shows function and authorisation status only.
