KTEL and intercity-bus departure rights

Check reimbursement choices, conditional compensation and evidence for a regular service.

For tax year 2026
Rules last checked 27 October 2026
Takes about 2 minutes

How this works

Check reimbursement choices, conditional compensation and evidence for a regular service.

Enter the whole service distance, not just your ticket segment. The worksheet separates terminal from stop, refund from rerouting and extra compensation from waiting assistance.

Methodology and disclaimer

Worked example

For a 300 km service, €40 fare and 121-minute terminal departure delay, check refund/rerouting. An extra €20 is shown only for confirmed failure to offer the required choice.

Assumptions

Indicative result; rule data awaits human verification.

Limits

This worksheet covers a regular service of at least 250 km, an EU boarding/alighting point and a specified time. Shorter services retain narrower rights. Arrival-only delay, open tickets and uncertain terminals require a separate check.

Edge cases

A bus stop and a terminal have diffe rules. This worksheet does not automatically award terminal assistance or the extra 50% at a stop. Check article 19(4) and the circumstances.
